  PIANO CHORDS

So what is a chord anyway?

Well, basically, a chord is a group of three or more notes played simultaneously resulting in harmony. An example would be the C Major chord:

C E G

Two more:

F A C (F Major chord) and...

G B D (G Major chord)

By the way, it may surprise you to learn that there are hundreds and hundreds of songs you can play just with these three chords alone!

There are may types of chords, actually. The one above could be placed in the general category of triads. Triads are chords consisting of exactly three notes. These are basic chords upon which other more flavorful chords are built. There are many of these, actually. Placing your focus on either blues chords, jazz chords, or gospel chords (or all of them) will depend on what your primary interests are. Remember, you'll learn a little at a time, and you won't have to know all your chords before playing music on the piano. This is for sure.
